Meet our au pairs
Cultural Care Au Pairs travel from over 20 countries around the world, arriving to host families in all corners of the USA. Each started their adventure with the aim to start their travelling adventures, grow personally and professionally and learn about American life alongside a supportive host family.
Their experiences are as different as each of them but they all agree that the au pair programme will not only change your life, but the experience will change you for the better. See for yourself and take a look at these au pairs who tell us how they discovered the rewards of the programme.
Opportunity of a Lifetime
"I decided to become an pair because I thought it was a great opportunity to combine my love of children, traveling, and culture. I love working with children and wanted a job where I could also benefit in learning some different cultures & customs. Being an au pair basically blended all this into one and gave me an opportunity of a lifetime. Anyone that loves children and is looking for an opportunity to travel, learn a new culture and experience many memories with a host family then this is the program for you!"- Melanie Harragon
A Long-lasting Friendship
"My relationship with my host family was (and still is!) a very strong one. Since my host mother was a single mum, communication was key in our day to day lives. They treated me as a member of their family, as did their extended family. I was cared for and loved for just as my own family love me. The 18 months I spent with them and in their home was a wonderful experience and one I doubt I will ever forget." -Nicole Jenkins
A Rewarding Year
"The people were amazingly friendly, easy-going, and a lot of fun. I really enjoyed my new friends and all the experiences they showed me. I was scared about making friends before I left Australia, however I found it easy to make friends and remain friends with them while back home in Australia! Overall the experience of being an au pair was amazing. It was not all fun and games, there were challenges to overcome and I overcame them. I achieved all I wanted to during my year. I am very happy when I reflect upon my time in the States." - Nicole Clarke
Best decision I have ever made.
Stepping onto that plane at Sydney airport was one of the hardest things I have done... The thought of leaving everyone didn't hit me until I was sitting on the plane and was thinking to my myself how much I was leaving behind to start my new life in America! As it turns out this has been the best decision I have ever made. I love my "new" family, my host kids and everything about this place. After adjusting to life here in the US everything has been fantastic. I have met so many amazing friends from all over the world, I have learnt that it is ok to be scared and afraid and that you need to give things a bit of time to see how good they really are! Being "homesick" is just part of this whole process and I felt it a lot at the start but have learnt to push it into the back of my mind and not think about it so I get on with my life over here before it is time to go back home! I have become a much more independent, stron g person since leaving Australia and am very confident that I can do anything I set my mind to. Life over here in America is amazing and I wouldnt change anything about it!
